It’s alright to have the intention to make people laugh in this season of Christmas but the way to do so should never have a negative impact to the viewers in any aspects. This is what Values Education speaks of, “the right intention requires also a right action”. Now going to the main topic, the comedy film entry of Dolphy, the comedy king, is now facing a series of review from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) and complains from different religious organization.
A moment ago, Dolphy just gave his thoughts about this issue in the “Chika Minute” segment of GMA 7’s “24 Oras”. According to him, he just wants to make people happy and he didn’t mean to make an issue out of this. He felt bad about this because he said that he only wants to bring smiles to the people like what he always does and he already talked to the editors of the film to cut the scenes that disrespect the church. Also, the comedy king said that this might be his last film and he doesn’t want it to be against the church because he said that he is a very religious man and is dedicating his life for the lord.
The plot of tells the story of a modern priest assigned to a place called “Parmbil” and his life turns upside down after he was accused of molesting a child. In this film, the very controversial scenes that are being questioned by the board of critics and the church is when the consecrated host fell in the cleavage of a woman and another is when it got stuck in a false teeth of an old woman. Well I cannot blame the church to be mad about this because this is really an act that disrespects their purity. I may not be a critic or a spokes person of a religious group but I can’t stand watching this movie or even just its trailer. It’s really ridiculous especially when I saw the sacristans are really clumsy like they are doing it on purpose. I mean, once in my life I experienced being a sacristan myself and what they did in the film is really a disgrace. Not just those scenes but the whole film itself.
Ohh brother, Christmas is near and the least thing that we need a film that may have a huge impact against the Christian faith. Honestly, I have no grudge about Dolphy. Let us just give the guy a break, because he just wants to make us happy but if what he said is true about him being religious, he should be the first to stop this film because there is nothing funny about a priest accused by molesting a child or those monkey businesses shown during the holy mass.
Here is the trailer of the film, “Father Jejemon” and I’ll leave the judging to you.
I heard it in the news as well. They said sorry and they will remove that scene from the movie
ReplyDeletegood thing that youtube removed this trailer, I'm getting sick of it.
